Can You (Still) Smile After 26.2 Miles

I can see the finish line from a straight -away.
One problem, I’m officially tired (like our pacer has told us at mile 18) and about ready to give up mentally as well.
Here comes the rescue… Elvis Presley with a boom box blasting like you’ve never heard before.
That brought life to my tired body and I have forgotten for just a few minutes, that it’s only a few hundred strides more and the 26.2 marker will be mine.
I finished the race a mere second ahead of my goal unto a personal best.
I was absolutely tired but happy. I felt like on top of the world. Why not, I have trained for 18 weeks with one goal in mind – finish the race with a personal record!
Yes, I did it and I was all SMILE.
… BTW Can You (Still) Smile After 26.2 Miles?
I wish I had this SMILE machine from Unilever at the finish line to see. Capture and post it on social media?
Hmmm, I may have gotten and ice cream to top it all. Watch the video.

Twitter added 44.5 million to its website June? Wow, that’s pretty amazing fact. Anyway let’s hear it from Jim Quillen’s corner at connectsocialmedia.com;
Twitter Demographics | The 45-54 Group Leads The Way

50 Ideas on Using Twitter for Business
by 5kgeek on July 30, 2009
in bizBraggin', twitter news
I was surprised to know that a lot of folks (and businesses) out there still have no idea about twitter.
It happened to me, as a matter of fact as I was on the way out of work the other day. I did bump into a father and son team who operates a multinational inkjet ink replacement business.
After few exchanges of pleasantries we got into the subject of how the Internet has affected their business.
Besides IM’s, phones and fax there is no other ways for them to solicit business. So I ask them if they have twitter account. To my surprise, both have no clue as to what twitter is all about.
As a good neighbor, I gave them a bit of indoctrination about twitter. The young man of course is excited and will be testing twitter’s viral potential soon.
By the way here is an article from an industry expert on social networking — talking about 50 Ideas on Using Twitter for Business;
We really can’t deny the fact that businesses are testing out Twitter as part of their steps into the social media landscape. You can say it’s a stupid application, that no business gets done there, but there are too many of us (including me) that can disagree and point out business value. I’m not going to address the naysayers much with this. Instead, I’m going to offer 50 thoughts for people looking to use Twitter for business. And by “business,” I mean anything from a solo act to a huge enterprise customer.
Your mileage may vary, and that’s okay. Further, you might have some really great ideas to add. That’s why we have lively conversations here…READ MORE

MLB taps Twitter for live commentary
Major League Baseball is now using Twitter in two of its online properties: MLB.tv, and MLB.com. Fans can chime in themselves, or view the 140-character insights of “insiders,” which are tweets from each team’s official Twitter account or fan blog.
Along with being able to post new messages directly from the box, users can get their tweets filtered into the stream using hash tags. These show up alongside the happenings of the game and serve as an alternate commentary to the streaming radio feeds. This is a really neat approach, since it does not require users to remain on MLB’s live game sites. Instead, it can tap the commentary of people who are watching or listening to it elsewhere.
For those who decide to stay in MLB’s Twitter box though, there are plenty of options to make it worth your while. The stream continuously updates, tapping into Twitter’s…READ MORE

Martha Stewart: Twitter is Better than Facebook
by 5kgeek on July 29, 2009
in twitter news
Lately there has been a number of defections from facebook to twitter (and vice versa). Here’s the latest one from Mashable. It’s Martha Stewart…
Yesterday, Bill Gates admitted that he has abandoned Facebook because he had too many friend requests and could not tell who he knew and who he didn’t. Now we have another well-known public figure who isn’t very fond of Facebook: Martha StewartThe master of home décor, in an interview with The Daily Beast, talks up Twitter and describes Facebook as “dippy.” Unlike Gates though, she extensively discusses why Twitter has a special place in her heart. Here’s a little of what she to the Beast:
“I just love it so much more than Facebook … First of all, you don’t have to spend any time on it, and, second of all, you reach a lot more people. And I don’t have to ‘befriend’ and do all that other dippy stuff that they do on Facebook.”
Martha continues to praise Twitter, even calling it “the Wal-Mart of the Internet” (that’s an interesting analogy…). She also stated that the Facebook v. Twitter debate doesn’t matter all that much, specifically because, “they’re all going to be owned by the same company eventually.” The Beast even got a quote from Brandee Barker, Facebook’s Director of Communications, on the subject of READ MORE
